Serve with Us

At the Community Closet, every hour served helps clothe our neighbors in dignity, kindness, and care. Come be part of the hope!

When You Serve, You Strengthen Community.

How to Get Started

Interested in volunteering at the Community Closet? Here’s what to expect:

  1. Reach Out
Stop by the store or call us to express your interest. We’ll answer any initial questions and share available roles.

  2. Submit an Application
You’ll be asked to complete a short Volunteer Application and provide 1–2 references. This helps us get to know you and discern whether we can offer a meaningful opportunity that fits your gifts, availability, and interests.

  3. Pre-Screening Meet & Greet Conversation
After we receive your application, we’ll schedule an in-person pre-screening visit with our store manager or assistant manager to talk through your interests, availability, and what it means to serve with New Hope.

  4. Background Check
All volunteers are required to complete a background check.

  5. Orientation, Training & Documentation
Once cleared, you’ll be scheduled for a short orientation and on-the-job training to help you feel confident and equipped in your role. All volunteers are also required to sign a Statement of Faith. You’ll also be asked to review our Volunteer Policies and Procedures and sign a Training Acknowledgement Form.

  6. Start Serving!
Volunteers typically serve a minimum of 2 hours per shift, either weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or on a schedule that works for you. However often you serve, your presence matters.
