Assistant Store Manager

Join Our Team at the Community Closet!

New Hope Community Closet in Quarryville, PA, is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help lead the daily operations of our growing thrift store while supporting a mission that extends far beyond retail.

The Community Closet is a ministry of New Hope Community Life Ministry, where every donated item and every purchase helps provide affordable professional counseling to individuals, couples, and families throughout our community.

This 30 hour-per-week leadership position is ideal for someone who enjoys working alongside people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about creating an organized, welcoming experience for donors, customers, volunteers, and staff.

Highlights of the Position:

  • Support the Store Manager in the daily leadership and operation of the Community Closet

  • Serve as Manager on Duty, providing leadership and direction to staff and volunteers

  • Oversee donation receiving, sorting, pricing, and merchandising to keep the store fresh and inviting

  • Help recruit, train, encourage, and support our incredible volunteer team

  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe sales floor and donation processing area

  • Assist with cash handling, daily deposits, and operational procedures

  • Help create a positive, Christ-centered culture where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and respected

  • Be part of a ministry where store proceeds help make professional counseling accessible for those facing financial barriers

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who demonstrates:

  • A Christ-centered faith expressed through humility, servant leadership, integrity, and care for others

  • Retail, customer service, operations, or supervisory experience (thrift or resale experience is a plus)

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • The ability to lead and encourage volunteers and staff with confidence and compassion

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

  • A commitment to supporting the mission and values of New Hope Community Life Ministry

Compensation & Benefits

  • 30 hours per week

  • $19.50 per hour

Part-Time Shift Leader

Join Our Team at the Community Closet!

Looking for a hands-on role that makes a difference right here in Southern Lancaster County? New Hope Community Closet is growing—and we’re inviting two dependable, people-oriented team members to help us create a welcoming and organized shopping experience for our neighbors.

We are currently seeking one part-time Shift Leader to work 18–20 hours per week. This role is ideal for someone with retail experience who enjoys working with volunteers, helping customers, and making sure things run smoothly both behind the scenes and on the sales floor.

At New Hope, the Community Closet is more than just a thrift store—it’s a place where generosity and community care come together. Proceeds directly support New Hope’s counseling services and programs that bring hope and healing to local families.

In addition to regular retail and customer service responsibilities, the Shift Leader also serves as a trusted key holder—assisting with opening and closing the store, handling the register, and ensuring smooth operations when a manager is not present.
